When electricians are fired for failing to install safe wiring

A Florida electrician is facing termination for not installing a safety wiring system that would prevent electrocution when wiring up an electrical system.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection says John W. Daley, 53, of Lakeland was fired Wednesday after failing to properly install a safety system for a circuit breaker that had been installed in a house where an electrical outage had recently occurred.

The electrical equipment, known as an “IBC” or “infrared detector,” had been connected to the breaker by two wires, according to the department.

Dyson told the department he had never installed the equipment before, and he said it would be unsafe for the circuit breaker to be exposed to sunlight.

The department told ABC News Daley should have installed the safety equipment before wiring the electrical system up.

The inspector was later dismissed.
