Electricians are among the best paid workers in the industry, with salaries topping $80,000 per annum.
But it’s not easy.
There are some roadtech companies, such as Roadtechs, that charge an hourly wage of $100 an hour, but those hourly rates vary depending on the position.
But how much is actually being earned by a Roadtech electrician?
In order to find out, we looked at the average hourly pay of Roadtech workers across Australia.
To get a sense of the pay in this industry, we asked the Roadtech’s own employee relations manager, Matthew, to estimate the salaries of his own electricians across Australia as a percentage of the average.
We looked at all Roadtech employees in Australia, whether they were full-time, part-time or casual, to see how much each hourly salary was above and below the average of the industry.
In order for the hourly pay in a particular position to be above and under the average salary, we had to calculate how much of that wage was being paid in a weekly pay rate of $70 or above, and how much was being made in a monthly pay rate above and less than the average wage for that position.
Matthew estimates that for each hourly pay rate between $70 and $110 per week, a RoadTech electrician earns about $25,000 a year.
For example, if an electrician earned $20,000 in the month of January and made $20 per hour in a Weekly pay rate, he would earn about $30,000.
But if a RoadTec electrician made $50,000 on average and made a weekly salary of $50.00, the hourly wage would be $38,000 (that’s around $3,000 more than the $30k average salary).
In other words, the electrician makes more than his hourly rate of pay, but is making less than his weekly rate of salary.
In total, RoadTechs employees earn about a quarter of a million dollars a year in wages.
If we assume that an electricians salary is paid in an hourly rate over the average pay rate for that particular position, it means that a Road Tech electrician would earn around $60,000 annually.
That’s about half of the $50m a year earned by roadworkers.
The pay of a Road TechnicianMatthew says that Roadtech companies are very good at identifying their employees, and this is because they know which employees make a lot of money.
But there’s also a downside to this.
In the last year, Roadtech employers have made it clear to employees that if they want to get their wages paid in monthly pay, they have to accept lower hourly pay rates.
But Matthew believes that RoadTacs are not as aggressive as they should be in this regard.
“I think that RoadTech should look at what they can get out of that, and if that means lowering their hourly rates a little bit, they’ll do that,” he says.
“It’s not like RoadTacs are really that aggressive with the wage rate.”
To find out how much RoadTtechs average hourly wage is, we contacted RoadTech’s employee relations director, Matthew.
Matthew says the average salaries for RoadTees vary across the industry based on the location they are located.
“In Melbourne, there are typically around two different pay rates across all our locations,” he explains.
“One is the average rate for all our electricians, and the other is the hourly rate.”
So if we had a Road tech working in a Melbourne location and a customer was paying a higher hourly rate to him than we are paying to other RoadTaps across the state, we would pay him less.
“The hourly rate for the average electrician in our industry is about $40, which means if the customer paid a higher rate than the rate we’re paying to the average RoadTic, we wouldn’t pay him anything at all.”
In the case of Melbourne, Matthew says that the average weekly wage is $50 ($40 x 2) and if the hourly payment rate is $60 ($60 x 2), then a Road Tec would make about $50 a week, and a Road Tec would make around $30 a week.
But in Adelaide, RoadTc pay is set at $50 per week.
“This is what our hourly pay is at,” he said.
“Our hourly rate is set to $70, so if the customers pay us $70 a week more than what we’re making, we’ll pay him more.”
If we pay the average $60 hourly rate, that’s what we’d pay him, so we’d probably make less than he’s making.
